This study aims to analyze the force acting on the seal and the tension that occurs on the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F seal. Hydraulic cylinders are used as a means of transferring and controlling pressure and movement. The advantage of using hydraulic cylinders is the powerful energy transfer by using only small and simple components in their control. This study conducted seal resistance testing and analysis of cylinder pressure that could cause damage to the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F cylinder boom. The purpose of this study is to determine the shear force and tension that occur in the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F cylinder boom seal. The study was conducted to determine the resistance of the seals working on the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F cylinder boom at PT. Vale Indonesia, Tbk. The results of the study show that the force that occurs in the seal due to the pressure on the cylinder boom of the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F, then in pressure conditions without any load, the force produced on the seal is 6,780.64 N, and at maximum pressure, the force produced is 28,213.7 N. In contrast, the shear stress that occurs in the seal boom cylinder of the CAT Backhoe Loader 444F produces a shear stress that occurs on the seal without any load of 2,337,054.078 N/m2, and at a maximum pressure of 9,724,294,052 N/m2. The stress that occurs in the seal is still considered safe because it is still below the permissible pressure of 34,473,800 N/m2.
