Abstract

In an electric power network system, shunt capacitors are widely used to meet reactive power shortages, reduce energy losses, regulate voltage, and improve system operating security. The installation of the shunt capacitor causes the current flowing in the conductor to be smaller, thus reducing the amount of power losses and voltage drop on the channel. Power flow is a study carried out to obtain data regarding the magnitude of power flow, current and voltage profile. By using a 31 bass system with a shunt capacitor installed on bus 21 of 40 MVAr and 80 MVAr, the voltage amplitude will improve on the bass and also the voltage amplitude in the entire system.
